'Sanctuary for Families' partnership

 

We have been reflecting on those who are most suffering during the Covid-19 pandemic.  As we are all facing the same storm, we are not impacted in equal measures.

Survivors of domestic violence* and trafficking have been facing daunting challenges and life-threatening risks during this public health crisis including job insecurity and/or unemployment, food insecurity, housing insecurity, confinement with a dangerous partner, compounded trauma and heightened anxiety, disrupted legal cases, additional stressors, childcare needs, fears about seeking essential/emergency police or medical assistance while undocumented or due to the lack of public benefits.

Therefore, we decided to partner with Sanctuary for Families, a New York non-profit service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Nearly all clients and service users of Sanctuary for Families are women of color, are with children and most already live in poverty.
